PC Connections

Good morning to all. I have a pretty simple question. I was recently told by a senior programmer that only one PC can connect and go online with a processor at a time. I know in Rockwell, multiple programmers can be online with one processor at a time. I feel like Siemens would be able to do the same. So, my question is, is this possible? Also, If one person makes a change does it populate to the other persons PC, or do they have to upload when changes are made?

Be careful for that blanket statements. Next time ask the senior to say which processors he worked with. And you should do the same when talking to the Siemens representative: mention which PLCs you wish to work with in a multi-user environment. 

For your reference you may want to research the detail surrounding 'software units' of the S7-1500. (..for a modern approach)

With more recent versions of TIA Portal, multiple PCs can be connected to a PLC using the various licensed tools available to support those special requirements.

I do know how touchy it can be in the Rockwell world if strict guidance isn't provided and suddenly multiple people are modifying things shared across more than one person and their local stuff suddenly gets out of date / stale and they can get stuck if they are not also making the exact same changes locally ...

Siemens tries to save us from ourselves and prevent those types of situations, so be wary and read the docs.
