PLCSIM V12 Error 'my project cannot be opened becouse necessary products are missing'

Hello,

I've recently faced similar problem - TIA Portal V12 SP1 is already installed, I've made a project working on S7-1500 CPU and tried to simulate it in the S7 PLCSIM V12.

I get a message that "my project cannot be opened becouse necessary products are missing"

1. WinCC Basic V12 SP1

2. STEP 7 Professional V12 SP1

What can be wrong with that? I put all the files in the same folder, the installation went without any problems... I attach the screenshot.

you must install PLCSIM V12 SP1!

ChristophD is correct, you should upgrade PLCSIM to match the TIA Portal version.

Also, did you try to open your *.ap12 project in PLCSIM?

If so, that is your problem. You must create a new PLCSIM project and download from STEP7 into your simulator.

Then if you save your PLCSIM project, it will create a *.sim12 project.

PLCSIM and STEP7 have separate project formats.

It finally worked. First of all I've installed appropriate version of PLCSIM, V12, SP1, as 'ChristophD' said. Then I've done as 'dsout' adviced and tried to create a new project in PLCSIM but didn't know how to download a STEP7 program to the PLCSIM becouse there wasn't such option in PLCSIM. I carefully read the PLCSIM manual where I found the answer: You should run both STEP7 and PLCSIM and "download to device" while using STEP7. That finally worked.
