Please help. Basic Communication between TP177 Micro and S7 200

camo Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Can somebody please point me to some programming examples or manuals on how to set up a basic ppi communication between a TP177 Micro HMI device and a S7 200 PLC. I have programmed the screen and the PLC i just cant get them to exchenge data. Please help Cheers

Manc Posts: 37 Rating: (2)	I'm no expert on this - but have managed to succesfully set these up in the past... Ensure you set the communications tab correctly in WinCC, double check that the baud rates match and that the address's are correct for the port on the PLC that you are trying to communicate with. Then of course check the cable you are using. I'm sure there is info on this in the S7-200 user manual.

camo Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your quick reply I have checked all the baud rates, addresses ect, and the cable i am using to connect the plc to the hmi came in the kit so i assube it is the right one. Should i be able to see the HMI when i scan the addresses in the communications dialog of step 7 micro/win. Only the plc comes up on address 2, i have set the HMI to address 3 and i have loaded the HMI program on to the device using the PPI mulit master cable and WinCC. I then plug the PPi cable into the plc at slot 0 and the rs485 cable into slot 1 of the plc and the HMI. Not sure what to do. Am i supposed to set up a subroutine in step7 and use NETR and NETW to send data between them. I cant find and simple configuration articles for this Thank you for your help.

Aristotelis Posts: 147 Rating: (34)	Hi camo I think what you are trying to do is not possible, because both of the devices are using RS485 protocol, but the PPI cable is converting RS232 <-> RS485. What I would do (have done, actually) is buy two PROFIBUS DP connectors (about 40€ each, but I don't remember) and some PROFIBUS cable. That way you will have very good communication between the two devices. (P/N for my particular connectors: 6ES7972-0BB50-0XA0) Hope this helps. Aristotelis
