problem in MM440 drive, it is giving A501

Gilli Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I am facing one problem in MM440 drive.the problem is that it is giving A501 ( Current Limit Alarm),but,it doesn't trip on Over current.however,it is reducing the output frequency and comes to "Zero" Hz sometimes.since it is not tripping,motor is getting over heated and fails. I want that the MM4 should trip on over current afte few secs of "A501" alarm appears. Kindly suggest me some solution to come out from this issue.

JensS Posts: 739 Rating: (55)	Hello Gilli, according to the Parameterlist A0501 = Current Limit Cause: - Motor power does not correspond to the inverter power - Motor leads are too long - Earth faults Diagnosis & Remedy Check the following: - Motor power (P0307) must correspond to inverter power (r0206). - Cable length limits must not be exceeded. - Motor cable and motor must have no short-circuits or earth faults - Motor parameters must match the motor in use - Value of stator resistance (P0350) must be correct - Motor must not be obstructed or overloaded - Increase the ramp-up-time. - Reduce the boost. Is there a parameter that is not set properly? I have installed many of these drives but have never run into this problem.

Abdelaal Posts: 76 Rating: (16)	dear Gilli, i can't understand if your drive gives the error first then stops or what ? would you make it clearer ? any way 1-please check that motor is compitable to drive . 2- check that bit 2 of control word 1 if it is 1 or 0 after error occurs. 3-check P0290 error occurs. i hope that may help. but if the problem is explained clearly we may re think in it other way

JensS Posts: 739 Rating: (55)	Hello, A0501 is a warning that your drive is reached the (current / power) limit! You have to dig why! There are few possibilities: - to much load - a defect in the mechanic (bearings) - a incorrect cable connection - wrong parametrising - and so on.... To answer your question: in the first moment a warning isn’t dangerous for the drive; but it can be dangerous if you don’t look after the reason.

dennisdenzity Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hi Gilli after you check the parameters, why not try torun your motor in direct on lineand check if the current of your motor is still under its nameplate value. Youhave to do thisbecause maybe the drive has already a compatible setting to your motorbut not knowing that your motor is already defective may cause you a bigger problem deliberately run your vfd.this will cause a high temperature on your VFD.
