Profibus cable for CPU315-2DP and Yaskawa A1000 connection

I would like to ask some question regarding profibus cable connection between Siemens CPU315-2DP and Yaskawa AC Drive A1000. Do you guys have any ideas how to create own profibus cable for it?

as I can see on A1000 Drive Profibus-Interface is an optional feature. Does yours have that Interface?

What connector does it have? Is there no manual to read out how to connect it?

Thank you so much for your help.. Basically my A1000 has an optional card for Profibus-DP and eventually I also found my Profibus cable for siemens. Since I am not really sure that this cable can be used for the Yaskawa, I would like to try to connect the A1000 to my PC by using the cable. Do you have any idea later on if I connect the PLC to A1000?

Quick answer: no.

Profibus is designed on a RS-485 electrical standard, not RS-232. The interfaces are different, the transmitter electronics are different, the supported voltage levels of the signals are different, the signal pinout is different, the cable characteristics are different... Basically, you cannot use RS-485 cable on a RS-232 interface and hope to transmit data properly.

I suggest you start looking for basic information on the subject so you understand what you are asking. For example:

Now, if you have an RS-232 port on the Yaskawa drive, an RS-232 port on your computer (or possibly a Rs-232/USB cable) and a software on the PC that can read the Yaskawa drive information through the RS-232 connection, then maybe you can use an RS-232 cable between the drive and the PC.

Or simply use the Profibus cable and connectors to interface the PLC and the drive...

Thank you so much for your explanation. Do you have any ideas about what should I do after I link my pc to CPU 315-2DP and from CPU 315-2DP I linked it with my A1000 Yaskawa. I am not able to find any connection in the software between the cpu and drive by using profibus cable. The parameter set for A1000 I managed to change it for profibus connection but for Siemens cpu, I am not quiet sure what should I do inside the software. 

Any ideas about this?

Have you thought of looking for Profibus-DP connection information from Yaskawa for the A1000 drive? Have a look at this webpage, go down to the Profibus section, download the Installation manual, the Technical manual and the gsd file you will find there.

The gsd file is a text file that will allow you to select a Yaskawa drive as a slave in your S7 Profibus catalog (in HWConfig).You must insert it In the HWConfig editor, wile no project is open (close any active windoiw in HWConfig first, the use the file menu Tools/"Install GSD file").

Once the gsd file is is installed, you will find th Yaskawa drive as part of one of the Profibus components directories. You can then select and drag one or more instances of the drive to the Profibus master's network line, give it a Profibus-DP address and select the different data exchange interfaces available for the dirve.

These interfaces (also  known as Modules) are described in the Technical manual, and you have to study this manual to know whats selection you will choose, and what data is available for Profibus-DP exchanges between your S7 master and your Yaskawa slave drive.
