Profibus communication

sdr Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hi all i have 14 drive on profibus, i had problem regarding communication first two drives, except this drives all drives are communicate properly. The problem is when i giving the start command at perticular Frequency from the profibus, drive start to run but after some time or during the running drive get stop and displaying the fault F0070, if i reset the drive fault and start it once again the same fault appear and drives get in stop mode. i ahve seen the discription of this fault in manual, which is mean that CB link failure, so i presume that there is the communication problem at present speed (1.5 Mbps), so i redused the communication speed from 1.5Mbps to 500Kbps, after that i have no more problem of F0070, but i dont want to run on in this speed, i have chk the distance and it is in range what is defined for Profibus(within 100meter) so Please suggest does there is need to modiifed the parameter in the drive or any thing else need to do for resolving this problem? Have you confirmed the db9 connector on the problem drives assembled correctly (no whiskers on the shield) 2.I assembled a panel withmany MM420's andwas instructed to ensure>= 2 metersprofibus cablebetween nodes, are your drives in a control panel like that? 3. Can you elimate downstream nodes and test only the trouble nodes? Perhaps elimate any downstream influence? just ideas.

sdr Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hi There would not be the db9 connector problem because after reducing the speed of profibus drive is running very well, Do i need to put Repeater? As i mention there are 14 drives in that this first drives i have the problem of communication, i power off all the drive except the problem one, after that i change the node address, then i chk all connection, every thing was ok, then last i reduced the communication speed of drive from 1.5Mbps to 500Mbps and the result was drive are running very well. Pls give me ur comment on this. Thanks and Regards sdr

Floyd Posts: 130 Rating: (1)	The reason i said check the connector is a poorly connected sheild can cause wierd problems on profibus. Also, i have had connectors where the leads broke, but made intermittent contact. Its an easy one to check anyway. You should be able to use up to 31 devices w/o a repeater. The last project i used a repeater anyway (30 devices) anticipating i would need it for troubleshooting. It seems a bit odd to me that your errors are limited to specific hardware. Perhaps you could try swaping the profibus card with another. The system i integrated with 18 MM420's had one bad profibus adapter. I had similiar problems but just with that specific module. It should not be running alongwith power cables ( If you cannot avoid that then you should put the Profibus cable inside a earthed MS conduit. ). Also inside the connectors please check if the cable screen is in proper contact with the connector shield ). If nothing else works, you may consider installing a Profibus repeater in the line. miami Platinum Member Joined: 8/31/2005 Last visit: 10/22/2024 Posts: 2198 Rating: (328)	Did you use Profibus connectors from Siemens, or "normal" Sub-D concators? Did you check the Bus termination? Onboth ends of your Profibus line (where there is only the IN cable connected) the termination switch must be closed (on) and all other must be opened (off).
