You can only assign 3 PROJECT languages.  You can assign more device languages.  Refer to the S7-1500 Web server function manual where it states:

I'm having a issue with a project in TIA V16, s7-1515F CPU and multi language.

Before this project a had alarms for my objects in the HMI with so called  "HMI alarms". So for every object I had a alarm word linked to HMI alarms. More languages were no problem.

Now I have in my PLC objects called "Program_Alarm" blocks. So in my PLC program I can make alarms. The advantage of this method is that when i copy the blocks to a new project, I've also copied the alarms with me, and I don't have to link and make all the alarms anymore. Another advantage is that the alarms also appear at the webpage and the screen on the PLC.

My problem is that all my program alarms are multi language. So in the hardware config of the PLC I have to check which languages are downloaded to the CPU. I only can select 3 languages here.

When I read the help file is says the folowing: 

"If you want to use translations of project texts for the Web server/for the CPU display, you need to assign the project language to the languages for the Web server/for the CPU display (number depends on the CPU). With this, you specify the project languages that are displayed when the Web server is accessed or in the CPU display."

So reading this, I realize there might be a CPU that supports more languages. Can anybody confirm this? How do I get more languages? 

When I do not select those languages in the CPU properties then I get On the HMI "TEXT MISSING".

Hopefuly someone could help me.

Just so I'm clear, on the HMI, you have on some screen a language selector, like various flags (buttons) when change language for the HMI text.

When you select a language which has defined text, the HMI item does not show the text for that item in the proper language?

Like a button's text does not switch to the selected language?

If you look at the text for the button, is Dutch available and filled in with the proper value?

Yes I agree that you can assign more web server languages. But the languages that I've not selected in the "project language" column are not representing the right text in HMI. For example I've not seleted "dutch" when I change the HMI language to dutch, the alarm text are saying "TEXT MISSING"

So the webserver and display language is not the first problem, but the HMI language text is.

I think you can assign many more than 3 web server languages.  Just assign the "project language" column as "English", and then add as many device languages (web server) as required. 

 

 

You mean, you want the HMI to be sent the alarm text over profinet for every alarm and you want to store the alarms in the PLC?

That cannot be what you mean because that's simply not the right way to approach the problem and I'm certain you know this too.

The way alarms work with PLC/HMI is you configure the alarms text in the HMI, associating a tag with a group of alarms, with the tag value selecting which alarm text to retrieve and display.  Like "HMI_alarm_motor_1" = 30, and in index 30 is the language dependent text to display.  Does not matter what language is present in the PLC because the end user has selected the language on the HMI and so that's the text to get displayed.

However, I think for a given screen, if you want to get around that approach and want whatever language is active in the PLC portion of things, you can setup a script to save the current language selection that runs when this plc-based alarm screen is being being loaded, and replaces the language selection with the language ID for the PLC.  When closing the screen, revert the HMI language selection according to user wishes.

Is this last paragraph the problem you are trying to solve?  You want a "default" language to appear on _some_ HMI screens, but not all.  Possibly on _some_ HMI items but not all items on the same screen?

Let me explain:

I have like 6 languages in HMI, they work fine. When I select another language all the texts are changing to that specific language. But I want not to specify my alarms in the HMI but in de PLC. So I've tested it with program alarms. When you select those languages in the PLC hardware config they are also multi language in the HMI. But only 3 of them :(

I only want the program alarms in 6 languages in the HMI. The alarms at the webpage or lcd screen are a "nice to have" for me.

I found the F1-help reference to what you are using: Central Alarm Management in the CPU

Here's the part you are painfully already aware:

• The following applies to alarms that are displayed in the alarm view or alarm buffer of the HMI device:

• You must download the languages in which the alarms are to be displayed on the HMI device to the CPU (max. 3 languages, see Multilingual).

• The languages on the HMI device must be the languages that were loaded to the CPU. Otherwise the HMI device only indicates that alarm texts are missing during operation. For more than three languages, you must load the HMI device with the texts (central alarm management is not possible).

So, to get what you want, you need some automation (scripting, like TIA Openness can do) to export your PLC texts in >3 languages, mate them up with HMI based alarms and push the texts into those alarms.

With some rigid structure (conventions) you could get that working pretty quickly semi-manually with exports & imports.

The base of my idea is this:

-I've made serveral FB's for controling actuators. I call these FB's objects.

-I can reuse these object in another project.

-Each object has alarms (like feedback error, sensor fault, running time error)

-In each object i have for each alarm created a program_alarm instance which is in 6 languages.

-I can create as much instances of each object as i want and all those instances will have standard alarms in 6 languages.

-When I create the alarms with an HMI interface, I have to specify each alarm for each object for each instance in each project.

With program_alarm you can make PLC-alarms, those alarms can be viewed on the HMI. I can reuse my objects including the alarms. But only in 3 languages, and thats my problem.

Maybe there's another "out of the box" solution for this. I'm looking for the perfect fit.
