Hello naga it seems our S5 "Experts" either missed your orginal postor are all still scratching their heads on what the right advise could possibly be(I certainly did for a while). I'll try anyhow to see if we can help you: As far asI know, there is no operating system/firmware upgrade (or downgrade) available for a 948R CPU (the 945 CPU is one of the few thatI know of which supported operating system upgrades). Having said that, the 948R (and other S5 CPU's/CP's/I/O cardsetc) did come in different "Revision Levels" which are marked by a "X"on thenumber label onthe front of the CPU. You are also correct in saying that you typically shouldensure to have thesame "Revision Level" in each 948R CPU of theredundant pair (exepction proves the rule though as can be seen in this THIS link and THIS link). You didn't say which 948R CPU you have, but below are the combined available "Update" notes for both models in which you may find your answer: 6ES5948-3UR11Updates
6ES5948-3UR12 Updates 6ES5948-3UR21 Updates 6ES5948-3UR51 Updates 6ES5948-3UR53 Updates Having said that, I would in you case send a service & support enquiryto Siemens (LINK), let them know your CPU part numbers &revision levelsand ask them yourquestion. I hope this helps and please let us know about the outcome |

Hello naga allow me to guide you on how to find these yourself rather than just posting it, as it should come in handy for any similar future product related searches: 1.) Go to https://support.automation.siemens.com 2.) Type in the part number in the "Search Product Support Documents" search field and click on "Go" (note that a predictive entry list willtypically appear while you type in the part number which you can use too). 3.) Select your part number from the "Products List" box that appears underneath the search field and click on it to open up its product page. 4.) Select the "Entries" tab from theproducts page 5.) Select"Updates" as the Filter setting for "Entry types" Note too that there is a guided tour as well as as "online help" available from the https://support.automation.siemens.compage (inthe bottom right hand corner of the page) which has some useful hints on how to most effectively find what you are looking for and is well worth having a look at.
Yes you can I am still unsure if you actually have a CPU revision level conflict or not (you did NOT say which part number/revision level the other CPU is) but start to wonder if they are actually the same and if your problem is "simply" related to the procedure that your used when you replaced one CPU. I suggest you have a look at the manauls below which have the infoon proper startup, CPU replacement procedure etc (it's been way to long since I last worked hands on on an S5 H system and I would consult these manuals too if I had to replacea CPU) S5-155H Programmable Controller (CPU 948R) Volume 1/2(see especially part I, chapter 9) S5-155H Programmable Controller (CPU 948R) Volume 2/2 I hope this helps |
