Reset DB fields to the start values

Dear All,

is it  possible to reset DB fields to the start values at runtime (via instruction)? The PLC is 1512SP.

sure I can set any value by assignment DB to DB or field-by-field.

But if there is any straightforward way like a PLC command, without creating extra DBs?

I'm afraid such a command or instruction does not exist in Step 7, classic or TIA Portal:

Since the initial value does not continue to use the initial values, there is no need to perform the opposite procedure, i.e. to load the values from the "Actual value" column to the "Initial value" column. There is no menu command for this either in STEP 7. The following instructions are used in some uncommon configurations for saving the actual values of a data block as initial values. This procedure can either be conducted directly within an STL source or by saving the values with Excel.

To continue with the subject, and to refine my initial Q.... What is the proper way to solve the following task:

- I declare an UDT_OBJECT type, which consists about 100 fields.

- I've got 10 instance DBs of the UDT, all are retained, as follows

--- OB1 : global DB of UDT_OBJECT, retained

--- OB2 : global DB of UDT_OBJECT, retained

--- OB3 : global DB of UDT_OBJECT, retained

--- etc.

- every OBx has it's start values set individually

I want to implement a user function "load defaults", which would act as follows: get all OBx fields back to it's start values.

Is there any "fast" way to do this?

Or, store them to a csv file (s7-1500) and read the file in at startup to restore the values.

Do the idea that Kal.A is giving but make a variation. You will not need to make an extra DB.

1. Create a UDT that has the structure you wish to have in your storage DB.
   
   
2. The UDT contains all the start / default values.
   
   
3. Create the DB of type {whatever UDT name}
   
   
   
4. Make a code block that has a temp tag of type {whatever UDT name}.
   
   
5. Use a MOVE function (see Network 1 in below example)
   
   (Network 2 is not required for the actual solution. It is only there to make a demo code block.)
