RS232 to S7-1200

microic1 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi to all, is there any example available of data parsing of received data from RS232 to S7-1200. I receive data to buffer, then copy received data to other string where i have to do data parsing on 3 different part and process it. I receive STRING which is 16 chars long starting with 0xAA. Is there a way to fill string once this starting character is present and just put all other data to string[1],string[2]... Any help will be very appreciate.

The key is to set your RS232 COMM Module's receive configuration to receive exactly 16 Chars and start receiving into the bufferwith 0xAA. What it will do is stuff the data into a CHAR buffer. There is a FAQ on how to map the CHAR buffer into a STRING. Once the data is in a string, you can use normal string functions to parse the data. Look in the STRING blocks in portal and you will find several that help parse.

microic1 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Thanks for your reply, I put RS232 settings as follows : START ON SPECIAL CHARACTER RECOGNIZE MESSAGE START WITH SINGLE CHARACTER HEX : AA DEFFINE MESSAGE END CONDITION: MAX LENGHT :16 What I understand, this should be enough for receiving data from RS232 to buffer. Is there anything I missed there.

microic1 Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hi there, if I'm right first input to buffer should be as example "AA000102030405060708090A0B0C0D0E0F" Every next buffer should be starting with AA consist only 16 hex characters but problem is I receive all other. You need to explain how your source device handles 'between' packets or messages. If there is a constant stream of data, you need to configure the end-of-message to stop correctly. It may take some experimentation, but you need to know those conditions are "or" conditions for end-of-message configuration, not "and". If your configuration allows for a predefined message length, set it to 16 (#0F). If your message has a break or special character between them, or a space or pause of 2 characters, you can detect those for end-of-message. Experiment with the end-of-message options if your device specs do not give enough information. Does it terminate with CR/LF or CR or LF?
