S7-1200, configure HSC within specified limit using encoder

For example I have to set limit between 1 to 100,even if user rotate encoder pot beyond max limit i.e.100 encoder o/p count value should not change. It remains at 100.Please provide solution if anyone tried it. Thanks & regards.. BMohsin --------------- New subject after splitting from S7-1200 maximum encoder connection.

Check the CTRL_HSC instruction. You need to assign a hardware interrupt OB to the HSC configuration so it triggers the reset action.

I have something else in mind. @BMohsin: You will need to do some processing on the HSC value that you receive. But to be of best help could we please take a step back first? * The device that you connect to the PLC almost sounds like a volume knob. Which type of pulses do you feed back to the PLC? - single pulse or double pulse? * Does the device go in only one direction or can it go in two directions? In other words.. 0 is the lower limit and 100 is the higher limit. * What are you measuring... counting pulses or rate of change (frequency)? * When reaching the limit.. should it stay "stuck" there? ---- From your description I see a volume control knob. The volume can be set between 0 and 100%. When reaching a limit, the adjustment does not cross the limit. But if the volume knob goes in the opposite direction it needs to adjust from the limit where it was stuck to earlier. If my above guess is in the ball park.. then I have a few pointers. If I am wrong then answering the above questions will help to get a better picture. Okay? Okay! w
