This comment, "8 fast inputs and 4 HSC counter..." is why 2 or 3. 8 fast inputs means PLC rather than add-on module inputs. Check this thread for details on the S7-1215: /tf/WW/en/Posts/73271 To read A&B channels for speed/direction, that's 2 HSCs per encoder, and 8 fast inputs is one PLC with a few inputs left over. To me, that's 3 PLCs, but you might find a way to get by with just 2. There may be some industrial piece of hardware that just detects encoder direction and provides a 1/0 output based on relationship between A-A'/B-B' -- and canbe put to a regular plc input and save on HSC inputs. |
