S7-1200 Memory Area

ThInk Posts: 21 Rating: (0)	Hi all, In S7-200, we can store a value into V memory. This value stored can be read from a HMI by reading the specific register V. However, in S7-1200, the value stored in data block. My question is which memory address these data block store to? How can I access the data block? Thank you!

MrPaiva Silver Member Joined: 6/29/2010 Last visit: 10/27/2022 Posts: 112 Rating: (63)	Hi ThInk, OnTIA 10.5 you can access the variable of DB by the symbolic name of the variable, if you use a Wincc flexible to program hmi, you have to create the DB without "symbolic access only" option and then you will be able to access the variable by the address.

ThInk Posts: 21 Rating: (0)	Dear MrPaiva, What if using other brand of HMI? In s7-1200, the register is L only? Unlike S7-200, there is a register V which can be access by other HMI. Thanks

The access of a variable in a non-symbolic data block is handled like in S7-300/400. You get access about DB-Number and Offset and type of variable. Let's take DB1 for example and several datatypes with several offsets: Bit-Access: DB1.DBX0.0 Byte-Access: DB1.DBB2 Word-Access: DB1.DBW4 DWord-Access: DB1.DBD6 Hope this helps. In HMI with other brands it have to be similar. regards

This is compareable to the S7-200´s M-memory - data block (DB...) This is what is the replacement to the S7-200´s V-memory - Local data (L...) [snip] ... @all If your HMI-variables are very less, then use the M-memory. This is easier to understand.
