S7-1200 & Modbus RTU

I have a Sentron PAC 3200 power meter which i want to connect to the S7-1200 CPU1214. I need to gather data from the meter using Modbus RTU. I want this data to be then sent to a WinCC SCADA package. Can anyone help with setting up/configuration a project on this? I am having difficultly setting up the Modbus connection with the PAC3200. I am also not too sure about how to connect to the WinCC SCADA. Thanks for any help!

Then you can work with the blocks from modbus library. WinCC SCADA can work, but must'n. Like I wrote in the other thread you can try using S7-300 communication driver. WinCC flex works, I tested this already. From Siemens there is no official release. But I think they're working on this.

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Member Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 11/4/2024 Posts: 4351 Rating: (1452)	Hi, in principle, it is possible to have Modbus TCP with TCP open connection and a user implementation of the Modbus protocol in the data package. So It isdone by S7-300/400 systems. However, there is no library already ready to use. You will need to read the Modbus protocol documentation (maybe in www.modbus.org) and implement it by yourself.

If you wish, you could use S7-300 to do this task (maybe a ET200S CPU). However, think in the oportunity: if you develop a solution (that really works), you can sell it.

mzunigat Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Dear: The best way to connect once PAC 3200/4200 to Scada is simulate CPU Premiun Micro. this way Siemens recomend and work well. attach file for that you follow the step and them your can send the information to PLC.
