Hello Gérard; Information on the CPU 314 IFM is hard to come by, even on the Siemens Product Support, since it has been phased-out since 2002 (and totally discontinued since 2012).. However I have located this document that could be of interest: In which CPU can you variably address CP340 and CP341? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/42989 The wording is not very clear, but I interpret it as limiting the compatible versions of CPU 314 IFM with a CP 340 to versions of a later firmware than yours. so your application should not work, as you tested yourself. The following table lists the older CPUs in which variable addressing is not possible. In these CPUs addressing depends on the module's slot.
If you need further (and more decisive) information, you would have to go directly to Siemens techs, using a Support request (link at the top of this page). Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello Gérard; In the online view of the HWConfig editor, diagnostic symbols will appear showing status information on the CPU, CP, FM... The diamond symbol you point to states that your CPU is in RUN mode, without diagnostics. So all is well at this time. These symbols are described in the chapter on Diagnostics of the Programming with Step 7 manual, which you will find in the Simatic/Documentation directory of the computer where you have installed Step 7. Alternatively you can download it from the Product Support page, on this link: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/45531107 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
