set up a PROFIBUS network with 2 PLC's

mathias123 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	hello, I have a S7-222 and an S7-214 and i want to set up a network with profibus. I am a rookie concerning profibus and want to change that. does anyone has a tutorial to set up and adres a plc netword I also have a TP 177 and maked with succes a profibus connection. when i dissconnect the cable from the tp177, and connect my other PLC what do i have to do then? i think i must give an adress to the plc's or somthing... JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (45)	It is not possible to use profibus to link two S7-200 PLCs. The profibus module available forS7-200 is EM227which can only be a profibus slave. You need a master in the network. So this is not possible unless you have some other master in the network. For communication betweenS7-200 PLC, you can either use PPI network which is available on CPU. Or you can use CP243-1 to do it over ethernet. This isalso not possible. You can use EM277 as MPI slave and connect TP to it. Or are talking about connecing to TP from CPU port using a profibus cable? In this case, you are not using profibus network, it is still a PPI interface. You are just using profibus cables and connectors beacuse physically they are both RS-485

marcsinclair Posts: 49 Rating: (5)	You can connect both PLCs (no apostrophe - it's a plural) to a PROFIBUS network, but as the previous contributor mentioned, the EM277 module is only a slave, so you will need to use the MASTER to relay any information you need to share. I have done this with a capper and a sealer, which were both SLAVEs to the filler MASTER. The filler copied over information from one block to the other (a simple MOVE) allowing the two slaves to communicate.
