R u asking for a selection of Motor protection Circuit breaker or Moulded cage circuit breaker ( motor Protection type) for protecting your motor. What is the rating of motor...? is Overload relay and contactor is being used for o/l protection or not. Do your want type 2 or Type 1 co-ordination.( it will decied the rating of contactor) What is type of starting you are using? what is motor starting time ? what is the application of this motor.? All these are a fewvariables on the basis of which O/L or short circut setting of CB will be depended. However, for a normal motor having starting time less than 10sec and for DOL starting without overload relay and contactor you can set overload current as 1.15 times to 1.25 times and S/C current from 2 to 5 times of Rated current. But the above is just an indicative... please learn the system fully and the selection of swtichgear for Motors and then do any setting in the plant.

SAQIB ALI Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	hi valli thanks a lot for start guiding and helping me, i would like to tell you about asked motor and its application motor rating 2.2KW, 5.2A, a blower ismounted on its shaft which is distributing the heat produced by the heaters in an oven. 400V ACsupply is going to this motor through a circuit breaker of siemens 3RV1015-1GA10rating 4.5A~6.3A and a contactor of 3KW(also of siemens) And the running load of this motor is 4.6A nowplease guide and also tell me what isthe difference b/w anoverload relay and a circuit breaker
