Simodrive 611 universal related problem in Roll Grinding Machine

sitaram Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Friends, We aer experiencing a problem with SIMODRIVE 611 Universal. Problem started only after a Mains supply failure when the machine was in operation. After restoring the power the drivefailed to function. Following are the conditions. Drive infeed converter unit indicates Enable LED and all the Axis Modules and head stock module indicate RUN on the display screen. But the Group signal I2t and Motor temperature signal is not available. The alarms on opeartor screen indicate 1.I/R Recovery Converter over Temperature 2. General fault I/R recovery converter. By keeping the Reset Push button from the Operator panel we are able to Operated XYZ axis Motors. But Head Stock Motor Trips with Alarm A607 soon after enabling the drive. with RED fault LED lit on the panel. Also observed DC link voltage high LED on infeed module is lit sporadically when the machine idle. Want to know whether its a problem with headstock drive unit or Infeed module...Thanks in advance..sitaram

Could you check the I/R module spearately by disconnecting the other modules..... if you have used drive ready input 73.1 and 73.2 check it out.... check your head stock motor is creating a load that why DC voltage is getting indicated on the I/R module.Disconnect this particular module and try to check.... sitaram Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Thanks for advancing your views..Opened the Infeed converter to check the internals. Noticed One snubber capacitor flashed and rest of the snubber capacitors and resitors are intact. All these snubber items are mounted on a PCB and firmly fastened against IGBTs. I find One component in the middle of the PCB (I will attach a pic later) with spring loaded stem apppears like Temperature sensing device. The value is around 3kohms. we are in process of dismantling the Head stock drive unit (1P SN1123 -1AA00-0JA! LT Module INT. 300A) to inspect the internal as the drive trips with A607 alarm as soon as its enabled. Where as rest of the Axis drives responding to command. The Snubber assembly PCB number what i could read is 462018.7570.10. Please forward if any details are available abou this PCB. Another issue can we press the unit back into operation by removing the damaged snubber capacitor? Though its has a very important function to safe guard the device, we have in the past run DC drives sans the snubber components for a while without much problem, But not sure of IGBTs.

sitaram Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	hello, Since one of the probable reasons explained for fault 607 is Absence of DC link voltage, suspected fuse might have failed. Since fuse is installed inside the module dismantling is inevitable. After dismantling the drive unit found 315Amps fuse failed. All devices were inspected and values are as desired. After replacing the fuse, Installed the drive bak into position. Still we haventMounted the infeed module due to snubber capacitor issue. Barring these two components failure, No abnormality has been noticed in there. Still unable to understand the reason for Group signal, I2t temperature monitoring Relay functioning i.e. contact X121:5.1 and 5.3 are open. Actually what causes the relay to pick? As i mentioned earlier the component on the snubber PCB (spring loaded one) is in contact with IGBT heat sink, which senses the temperature change, i suppose. In the head stock drive it displays a resistance value of 1.9K where as in infeed module its 2.2k.. could this be reason for temperature relay to pick?

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (474)	Hello... Normally i2t monitoring is wired in I/R module.if there is fault relay dropsout.The resistance difference will not be the problem for the realy pick up. When selecting the switching devices and the auxillary contact on the mainswitch,the contact realiabilty when switching to low currents must be carefully taken in to consideration. >terminal 5.1 -5.2 NOcontact open for no fault >terminal 5.1-5.3 NC contact closed for no fault if the relay is activated at I/R module:HEAT-SINK TEMPERATURE MONITORING TRIPS 611ue:MOTOR-TEMPERATURE MONITORING TRIPS HEAT-SINK MONITORING TRIPS i2taxis limitingRESPONDS Regards, Ekalavya

sitaram Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Hello.. Affter replacing the fuse in headstock drive unit and removed the flashed snubber capacitor from I/R converter module. Fixed both units back into position to try the outcome. Still the Alarm Group signal I2t temperature monitoring contact X121:5.3 and 5.1 is OPEN and alarms are still displayed on the operator screen. But All drives response in jog mode has been tested and are alright. To enablel the machine to go into automatic mode, these alarms need to be cleared first. Despite the machine being kept off for almost a day why is this temperature monitoring relay picking up? This suggests to me that its either due to spurious signal or defective temperature sense component. Another trial we conducted is byholding thethe reset button depressed we could go into automatic mode and machine function is normal. Since not sure of the source of the alarm keeping us in spot of botheration and cant let the machine function unless the root cause is established. Any suggestions..

The error is or not? If Infeed has no error connect drive modules etc. If, of course, I have correctly understood you. Best regards.
