Testermax Posts: 159 Rating: (3)	Hello! My current project is a single user (single station, ESOS) and I want to add 4 OS client stations. My concern is how to do this as correct as possible. I believe I have to set up the new OS server in HW config and define it as an OS server in Simatic manager as an "ordinary" OS server. And that I also have to change the project in winCC to multi user...but Im not sure if this is the way to do it. Does anyone have a step by step guide on how to change this? I found another post with similar problem but it didnt aswer all my questions.

Nil96 Posts: 325 Rating: (14)	Hi Testermax, Open ur OS Single Station wincc. Under the OS properties, (general tab) change the type from Single Userto Multi User. Well I am not sure if in this case ur Single user license is applicable for a Multi User pupose. Better u get this clarified with support. As far as the clients are concerned, u can add PC stations is Simatic Managerwith Wincc Application Client. Don't forget to generate the Server data for Server and browse the same in Client Stations. Then add in project all client PC station as well as Nil96 said. Remeber to update license, OS Server License needed Reagrds

Reagrds I didnt catch what you meant here? Do I have to do anything with the ES HW config? What do I do on the OS server HW config? What do I do on the ES HW config? Thanx by the way for quick reply

Instead need W2K3 for server station, and keep your ES station as well ES only or OS client as you like. The question is you need new phisical PC for server, and need configure new "PC Station" in HW configuration. I suggest you to change your actual configuration in "PC Station" as well as Nil said before, just remeber to change everything (station name, IP/MAC address and so on...) when done, go ahead with others configuration (PC station clients) P.S.: remeber you need right license for servers and clients Regards

Testermax Posts: 159 Rating: (3)	Hello CBo! I understand. Thanx for the advice, it was like I thought, except for the licence part, I missed that one I will continue to use my ES as an OS client, and of course by a new server for the OS server. Thanx for the tips.

In our quest for expanding our multiproject with client/server we have done this: Going from this configuration... 1 AS project 1 ES_OS project ...to this: 1 AS project 1 ES project 1 OSServer project 3 OSClient projects So far we have done this: WE have renamed our previous ES_OS subproject to ES and removed the OS project part (cut/paste to the OSServer), but kept the WinCC Application. We have created an OSServer subproject, in which we have created a pc-station with a WinCC application in it. We pasted the previous OS(1) from the ES_OS into this new OSServer. We have opened the OS(1) project (in the OSServer subproject) in WinCC and configured it as multi station, and added the OSServer computer to the list (as server). We have compiled the OS project with generate server data. Is this the right way to reach our goal (se picture)? I have read the "Compendium A" and everything seems so easy when you start from scratch, but changing an excisting multiproject seem a bit more difficult. Attachment ServerClient.jpg (532 Downloads)

Do you think it would be better to cut/paste ES_OS station and change it to an OS server, in an OS server subproject (and not just cut/paste the OS(1) object from the ES_OS pc station)? The link above "What should you do ..." doesnt seem to point to the right place... But your point, "to clean your original ES_OS project from runtime data" caught my attention! Can you explain why this is important?

During runtime startup project will createfew runtime configuration files that you'll overwrite when perform next OS download over OS station, it will cause some trouble since PCS7 is using MSQL engine...(especially with historical archives) So...in all cases (cut/paste PC station, or cut/paste OS(1)) doesn't change what you have to do: clean OS project on ES station from indesiderable files. here the right link (FAQ nr. 24285161) What should you do if the OS server project is taken online by mistake on the ES? Regards
