"Unable to access the IP Address COM1"

Hi,

I have a Laptop with Win7 (64) and LSC V8 installed. The LOGO! RS232 cable is connected to my PC at a RS232 interface. In my case it is COM1.

NOTE: On a PC by default the RS232 Interface is COM1 or COM2.

I select this in the Interface dialog and press Test button everything works well. I'm also able to upload and download from/to LOGO! 6.

Then I also tested a USB programming cable.
1. I connec t the cable to my PC and LOGO! 6
2. I press upload
3. In Interface dialog I select: LOGO! Cable and then I select the COM port in my case COM1, 3 and 10 is listed.
4. I select COM 10 and press Test.

Also everything is fine and I can Up/Download to LOGO! 6 with both LOGO! Programming cables.

Summary:
If a RS232 cable is used and directly connected to a PC RS232 Port, then Com1 or Com2 should work
If a USB cable is used and connected to PC USB-Port and LOGO!, then in the Interface dialog you should see the COM port used for the USB cable.

Please note I have no converter between the cables and my PC. But my Laptop is plugged into a docking station.

The OBA6 does not network like OBA7 and OBA8 do.
Right click and select properties as shown above to select the OBA6.
Note that the software is in "diagram mode".

Hello. 

I have been reading this question and not able to come to a conclusion whether you were able to fix it or not. 

I would just like to share my experience with the same error. 

I went to the device manager and removed serial port device for COM1, scanned for hardware changes and COM1 device re-appeared. 

The error asking for IP address disappeared and PLC connected.  I am running windows 7.
