Valves in Industry Library

APL and IL work perfectly together.

Both are subject to the same quality requirements and are tested extensively, also together, by the Siemens system test.

The industry library is the result of the merger of several industry add-on libraries ( e.g. water library, semiconductor library) and was added to the official standard portfolio.

The sales release summarizes very well the added value of the IL compared to the APL:

The blocks added since IL V9.0 SP1 have some issues. These are blocks from BRAUMAT like adapter blocks, Unitif, EqmIf, BatchIf. The blocks are not aligned completely with APL blocks and with the new EPHT/EMT concept. We have created the necessary workarounds for them, but good news is that these issues will be fixed with IL V9.1 SP1...so hopefully it is released soon

To answer your question:

The VlvDiv and VlvDsL blocks are working fine, the IL has been out there since V8.0 so it has been out there a while.

But some blocks that were added since V9.0 SP1 lack some functionality. Overall the IL is a good addition to APL, but I think Siemens has released V9.0 SP1 to soon, because the mentioned blocks need work.

I'm currently working on a project in PCS 7 v.9.1 and there are some valves not included in the APL, but they are located in the Industry Library. VlVDiv and VlvDsL.

My question is, how does the APL and the IL work together?

Are there any issues I should be aware of, when working with the IL?

The costumer has advised against using the IL, since he had issues with the APL and IL blocks working together - What are your experience with it?

It would be unwise to buy the IL if I can't use it - so any answers with experience will be appreciated.

Hi,

The Indsutry library was released on 12/23/2021 and should have fixed all the mentioned bugs except for the mentioned ones regarding Braumat blocks.

The IL V9.1 is compatible with PCS 7 V9.1 and V9.1 SP1.
