When I try to connect to feature bits it says that a connection is not possible

When I try to connect to them it says that a connection is not possible. How can you make these feature bit settings dynamic ie from an SFC output (eg CV boolean type) ?

I've actually created a block that takes 32 individual boolean bits as inputs and convert them to a structure in the same format as the Feature input on the APL blocks. This way I can connect to any of the bits from anywhere in CFC or SFC or SFC type. cheers, Rob

MANOJ.N Posts: 81 Rating: (2)	Dont connect any thing to feature bits. These bits should not be modified online. It is not recomended by Siemens. In case of online modification unhandled exceptions may occure and the AS (CPU) may go to STOP Mode. Recently I had training, I had a similar doubt , Siemens recomended not to interconect feature bits and not to modify them when the system is online.

If it is like you say Siemens could easily prevent accepting canges to these parametersduring cyclic proccesing. For example this could be done in that way that these parameters are internaly set only during OB100 call. A CPU stop is in most process industries a 'maximuum credible accident'. Why then there is nothing like that mentionedin the documention? In addition; why the featurestructure is 'interconnectable' by default? Also this could easily be prevented by the corresponding attribute for this structure. This only my personal opinion... Regards

Of course you can not interconnect to a single bit of the feature structure. But you can connect to the entire structure 'feature' like RobD did it. Of course the structure type must match. If it would not be wanted by Siemens to connect there anything also the entire structure would not be interconnectable by default. Have look to your screenshot. One line above the marked line; You can see that the structure 'feature' is interconnectable. It is always written 'cannot be interconnected' at the single parts of a structure (e.g. see first line in picture at 'ExtMsg3') but of course the structure can be interconnected. Even if you heared it from a Siemens-Trainer; they are also not omniscient... Regards...
