The WinCC OLEDB Provider does not support all SQL statements and requires a very specific query format. This format is detailed in the manual. However to get you started, your query needs to be something like : ALARMVIEW:SELECT * FROM AlgViewENU The above will bring back all alarms and show them in English. You can filter the records by adding a WHERE clause onto the end. Note: You cannot build ( browse ) this query but have to type it in manually. Please try it and let us know how you get on. Salma

Instead you use one of the two queries available - either ALARMVIEW:xxx or TAG:R,xxx These queries automatically return data from the alarm system and the tag logging system. You do not tell the provider where the data is, it finds it itself from the many different databases. This is one of the advantages of using the WinCC provider and not the SQLServer one. Although WinCC uses MSSQLServer to store data, the runtime data is not stored in a typical database configuration. So you have to use the WinCC provider and live with all it's current limitations [:(] I hope this makes sense. If not, just ask [:D]

You have used "1" but this might not exist. Instead try using the archive tagname. e.g. Tag:R,'my_archive\my_archive_tag','2006-08-01 00:00:00','2006-08-14 00:00:00' I have also changed the start and end time to the last two weeks. 2) For the alarm query, you can use AlgViewEnu. e.g. ALARMVIEW:SELECT * FROM AlgViewEnu Note : you need the ALARMVIEW: command and you cannot select individual columns, you must do a SELECT * 3) Have you correctly configured the Source in your DTS package? So you have selected WINCCOLEDBPROVIDER but you must also select the Properties button and configure the connection. Have you done this ?

So in the second step of the DTS ExportDatawizard you define the Target Location. NEVER create new tables in the WinCC databases [:o] You should create a new database in Enterprise Manager and set this new database as the target for your results. Then in Query Analyser you can browse your database and query the RESULTS table. (You can change the table name too in the wizard) You do not say how you are querying a second tag. Are you running through the DTS Export Data Wizard a second time ? You do not need to do this. Instead at the end of the wizard you can save your DTS package. Then open it up, change the archive tag and execute the package. Are you doing this ? If so, are you getting an error ?

Absolute times are when you enter an actual date (e.g. 2006-08-25 00:00:00). Relative time dim sql_query sql_query = "TAG:R,'my_archive\my_archive_tag','0000-00-01 00:00:00','0000-00-00 00:00:00'" This will return data for the last 1 day starting from now. By setting the second time value (the end time) to all zeroes it indicates now. You can find more information about relative time settings in the Connectivity Pack manual.
