WinCC Unified – Simple Sample – Operator alarms (user alarms)

“Simple Samples” are small projects that demonstrate simple features. The target is giving a quick overview about the theme and be used as start point for related discussions. Follow there are a short description and the configuration main steps.

In general, there are two main alarm/message types:

• System alarms: alarms generated by the controller / HMI system to report some system fault (e.g. hardware, for example, wire break).
• Process alarms: alarms generated by the programmer configuration to report some operation status (for example, open door or lower tank level).

An additional type of alarm/message type are the generated by the user / operator: e.g. it report process event that are not covered by the other types, done by the user and that should be registered, like for example, turn shifts, changing production orders, report visual abnormalities of production, noises, etc.

Operator / User Alarms / messages could be generated by system functions / scripts.

There are three available system functions:

• CreateOperatorInputInformation: Create Operator Input Information message, an alarm of OperatorInputInformation class.
• CreateSystemInformation: Create System Information, an alarm of SystemInformation: class.
• CreateSystemAlarm: Create System Alarm, an alarm of SystemAlarmWintoutClearEvent class

TIPs:

• All of these system functions have the same parameters: alarm text, area, Parameter value 1 ..7. Alarm text and area could be filled as constant or by tag. The Parameter1..7 could be entered just as constants (V16), but if the system functions would be converted in script, the script could be adapted to uses tags as parameters value 1..7 too.
• Some of these alarms have no pending states, so they are not showed if the alarm view if it would not configure correctly. Set the alarm view to alarm source = logged alarms update could be an alternative, but the respective alarm class should be configured to log  their events.
