Windows CE and Comfort Panels

Peter8080 Posts: 4 Rating: (6)	Hi Everybody, My specific question at first: When we copy any kind of files to the HMI Comfort Devices through the Webpage of the Device or via Pendrive (memory stick), they disappear during the first reboot. It seems like a safety restoration mechanism from the Siemens. How can we copy files not to restore them later by the Device? Now the general question: We use more different HMI Comfort Panels (TP700 KTP400, and I dont know the names the others) at our company. We would like to program them through both WinCC and directly as a normal Embedded Device. We also would like to copy some information documentation file about our system formatted as DOC or PDF file. We can understand, that these devices are designed to use with PLC machines, but they are also regular Embedded Systems with Windows CE operating system. These devices (Comfort Panels or PLC Displays) are small Computers, small Laptop Computers, small Embedded Devices with processor, memory, data storage drives, display, even you can attach keyboard and mouse and Pendrive (memory stick) to the USB port, have regular RJ45 Ethernet connector with IP address and Default Gateway and can use Domain Name Servers, have a Windows Operating System with Start Menu and with Internet Explorer, and you can browse on the internet with this Microsoft Internet Explorer. (I tried, and I visited more Web Pages with the Internet Explorer of the Comfort Panel.) So, the Siemens Comfort Panels are small "Laptop Computers", with Windows operating System, but we have very limited Information about this "Laptop Computers" as a device, about the hardware, about the Operating System, which is a little bit different than the normal Windows CE. What we know, that there is an ARM1136-MX35 processor inside, instead of an Intel or x86 compatible processor. It has 200 MB RAM, and two background storage drive, both of them some Flash Memory card. The Operating System is Microsoft Windows CE Version 6.0. We can attach both USB keyboard and USB mouse to the USP port. What we do not know, how much it differs from a normal Windows CE device. There is no "suspend" function in the Start Menu, for example. We also do not know, how can we copy files to it. And this is the main point why I am writing now. When we copy files to the device, they will be deleted during the next restart of the Device. If we delete some file, they will be restored during the restart. So there is some safety restore mechanism, which is NOT a normal Windows CE mechanism, but it is probably from the Siemens. How can we switch off this restoring function, at least temporarily? And more general question, where can we read more about these devices in the mean as Embedded Systems with Windows CE Operating System? Where can we read, what was changed in the normal Windows CE operating system, and how can we program these devices as normal Windows CE devices instead of the WinCC?

The restart of the device does not effect the data which is stored on the SD Card, even the data in the flash shouldn't be deleted. Incidentally only the KTP400 Comfort runs with an ARM processor. TP700 Comfort and higher run with X86 processors.
