WinnCC Licenses Currupting

controlfreak555 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	All, I have a WinXp Computer manufactured by JLT Corp. The OS is running on a CF Hard Drive. We are experiencing license corruption on a regular basis. The licenses that are affected are as follows: 1. WinCC RT 2. WinCC Connectivity 3. WinCC Archive Tag Upgrade Does anyone on here have any experience with this? Please Help, Brian

When I contacted Siemens, Siemens send new code and the licence was OK. We tried to find why the licence is going in corrupted status. Today I am able to say if you shutdown PC uncorrectly (power supply fault for example) the licence will be damaged (probability 40%). This problem we have last two years with WindowsXPand we suppose that problem is in Automation Licence Manager and OS. I recommend you to use UPS and instruct operators into right use. Jaromir

The system is attached to a functioning UPS System that is tied in to properly shut the system down when a power shutdown occurs. I should have mentioned that in the first post. System shutdown does not appear to be the problem. Do you have any other recommendations? Brian

You install your licenses also on the same CF drive. Please correct me if I am wrong. Can you tell us more about your configuration of your PC? Specifically, can you let us know what is the make/type of CF?Do you also have a hard disk (2.5" or 3.5") in your PC? I have not experienced this, but I am guessing... 1.FAQ says(point 7) The authorization creates a cluster on the target drive, which might be marked as "defective". You must not "repair" this cluster. 2. Some CF cards (if not all) may use a "Wear-leveling and Bad sector management algorithm". I don't know how these algorithms work, but my guess is that there is a compatibility issue. Probably the CF drive used in your case uses such an algorithm. The algorithm see the licenses as bad cluster and are causing the so-called corruption of license files. My doubt can be easily ruled out if answer to any of these questions is Yes. 1. Have you used in other cases also the same CF drive without facing this kind of problem? 2. In this case, was everything working fine for a reasonable amount of time without any corruption of license? If you also have a hard "disk" in your PC, you can try by putting the licenses on it and observe the results. regards.
