In case of S7-400 H, go and download this manual http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1186523 In chapter 10 named USING I/Os in S7-400H, you will understand concepts behind redundant I/Os. In appendix F you will find wiring examples for redundant I/Os. Hope you find it useful.
