Working with 3960 TankRadar Rex

james_mike Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	I have a 3960 TankRadar Rex with Profibus DP (rosemout-tg.com) and its GSD file. But i have no document of arange DP module on it. If any one have it, plz help me. http://www.rosemount-tg.com/software_list.aspx?productArea=1&product=28&category=10. That is all i have.

I think we have to divide your question in a view parts to explain it better. Siemen's Examples and documents are all i have. I not sure that my program run. Tell me in which case? we use SFC14, SFC15 A: SFC 14 and SFC 15 are being used if you have consistent data in the DP Slave. This means that you have a area of 3 or more than 4 byte that contain a consistent value. If this is the case the usual access with byte, word or dword do not work and you have to get this consistent values transferred from / to the slave with these system functions. and SFC58, SFC59. A: SFC 58 and SFC 59 have or are being used if you have data sets in the Slave. Datasets may contain configurations, recipes or other data that is provided or required by the Slave. Some devices already changed here to use SFC 54 / SFC 55. And Does LADDR is Start address of module in hexa? A: In case of the SFC 14 / SFC 15 this parameter defines the start address of the consistent Data area you want to read or write. In case of the SFC 58 / SFC 59 you may use the start address of the Slave. In both casesit is the Address converted in hex-format. I hope I could help a bit. Best regards J_Bell

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear James_Mike, I fear the configuration of the Module requires a special Software or even Software and Hardware, depending on the way you want to configure these Slaves. At lease that is what I understand while reading chapter 3.6 of the manual you posted. If I compair it to some other Slaves SIEMENS offers I understand it because some also require a special configuration a Tool that accesses the Slave to set default parameters, tools like PDM. I think that is what you need to preset Parameters and to define the modules you than configure in the PROFIBUS DP Mastersystem. I am not 100% sure because I do not know this Slave. Hopefully I am right with this recommendation. To make it sure please contact the manufaturer of the Slave. Best regards J_Bell

james_mike Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Thanks J_Bell, I agree with you that i need special software and hardware. I think software is PDM and hardware is (ProfibusDP--PC adapter 56xx card for my PCMCIA). But i can not find TankRadarRex in devices list of PDM 6.0. I i can not find any documents deal with my System in Internet. I contac with my Supplier (In Sweden) and the doc wich i posted is all i have. I want to build my System myself and i need your help.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear James_mike, I am sorry but I think PDM will not help you here becasue the Software you need seems to me to be proprietary made by the manufacturer of the Hardware you use. Even the Interface seems to be not a standard Hardware. I fear you have to contact the manufacturer of the Hardware you are about to use. Best regards J_Bell
