I have 20 units of the Simatic IOT2050, model 6ES7647-0BA00-1YA2, FS:03, deployed in production. These units were running firmware version v01.02.01 and were functioning correctly.

The new batch of IOT2050 units delivered is FS:07, and these new units cannot use the v01.02.01 image. I had been using a cloned image for every new deployment. However, when deploying this image to the new batch, the units would not boot and displayed an error. After several attempts, I decided to use the latest image, v1.3.1, which worked. However, I find it very difficult to redo all the programming in the v1.3.1 image.

Please advise how to use the v1.2.1 image on the FS:07 devices?

On the FS:07 IndOS is pre-installed on the eMMC and this is the first boot device.

The Industrial OS needs to be configured and has no pre-configured IP address - see here for more information.

To make it easy for you: Press and hold the USER Button directly with powering on the device --> the eMMc is skipped and it should boot from your SD card with Example Image. Then change the boot order in Example Image to boot from SD Card at first.

To change the boot order for good:

sudo fw_setenv boot_targets "usb0 usb1 usb2 mmc0 mmc1"

Connect the UART cable

ls /dev

screen /dev/tty.usbserial-AB833YQD 115200

printenv boot_targets 

setenv boot_targets usb0 usb1 usb2 mmc0 mmc1 

saveenv

I understand that using this method can change the boot order from eMMC to the SD card.

However, it seems like the v01.02.01 image is not bootable on FS:07 device.

Could you please confirm if you have tried booting the old image on the FS:07?
