Hello,

we have two servers at our plant, S01 and S02. They worked fine until friday. Until friday S01 was the main server and served two client pc's.

Last friday I configured a program, and made the mistake to download it first to S01. Then I compiled and downloaded the program to the PLC. Then I downloaded the program to S02. S02 works now and serves the two client pcs.

The only problem is with S01. I downloaded several times again to S01 but it keeps giving error signals and does not display the values of the pumps and valves we need to see. The error signals are: 

Redundancy Control: Loss of connection via network cable

Connection error to device PPSV12S8

Connection error to device PPSV11S8

Connection error to device PPCLW7_client

In the simatic shell of S01 it is configured on terminal bus, then I can see all the other Siemens pc's and their status (good). Redundancy setting are on ------ and plantbus. We dont have a redundancy serial cable however.

Does anybody know what could cause the problems with S01 and how to solve them?

As S02 is Master now, have you tried loading Server Data .pck file on S01 ?

I deleted the server package of S01 and did a download again but this was unsuccessfull.

It gives the message ""package could not be imported''.

The only way to get the server package back again is to do a download again, but then it will not be the package I want (of server02).

after clicking loading in the server data, I can acces the package by typing in the computername of the server, but with importing it keeps on giving the message "package could not be imported''.

I deleted again my old package so I must do again a download on S01.

Please make sure you have connection to your ES (setting rights, shared folders enabled for system user, usernames and passwords the same for all station etc.)The server package is created during compile of the OS on the ES machine.

A side note: The way you should work is as follows (or you already work like this and then it was not clear to me):

1. Create logic in CFC, compile+download to PLC

2. Compile OS system and when you have two servers in redundancy like you have, execute a OS download change by selecting the configured master server in the PCS7 project.

3. Simatic manager automatically downloads to the standby server, when OK it downloads to the other.

What does your station configurator say? Are the settings changed? Can you see the pencil icon next to "WinCC Application" and your network card? If not, please go to the corresponding OS station in Simatic manager and execute PLC->Configure. And after configuring, execute PLC->Download. Your settings from the OS configuration in Simatic is now transferred to the OS station.

Another thing you can check is in WinCC explorer of server 1 in tag management. Under Simatic S7 protocol suite->Industrial Ethernet (if you are working through ISO protocol)->S7_program, you can check the status of the configured connection to your PLC program. Does it have a green check mark?

Did you already try rebooting server 1? Some weird things can happen, but is easily revolved by restarting the PC.

ES connection is good, I can copy and paste files of the ES from S01, S02 and the clients.

My Simatic WinCC RT on S01 sees: S02 is working (green) and S01 not (red).

Then I checked in WinCC explorer of server S01 in tag management, this is remarkable:

DCS2 is not connected

I rebooted server01, but sadly no success.

Some questions of me, S01 is configured as default master but must I now configure S02 as default master for redundancy? And that S01 will work after that? Also I configured time synchronization of the two wincc servers. Can this be of influence? My last question is if the project itself could not be correct, that is, if a small change occured in the project, then S01 will not be able to function as I first need to download the program to the PLC again.

Do you use server to server communication? If not, downloading server data to the server is not needed.

And you have a good configuration when the station configurator shows a pencil icon like its showing in mine attachment.

The default master which you set in the Simatic manager must be default master in WinCC Redundancy (by selecting: "Default master"). Then also check the box: "Activate redundancy" for both servers. Also fill in on which network card the redundancy is active. Normally, you have a third network card for redundancy between servers, but through terminal bus it is also possible.

Time synchronization is not an issue. You define a OS time master by using an external clock or some sort or a OS in your network.

If you make a small change like adding a step in SFC, you then have to download first to PLC, then OS compile+download change to both servers.  

Also check in Netpro if the named connections are OK. AS-OS communication.

I will upload a part of the manual: PCS7 Operator Station, where steps are involved how to setup the system. There are a lot of configuration steps, so I think it's best to read through these steps as well as checking my suggestions.

In the station configurator is a pencil shown

WinCC application has a pencil on S01 and S02 it is in both cases with a red cross

IE General          has a pencil on both S01 and S02 it is in both cases green
