What you are looking for is asked about regularly enough, but it is not a single standard instruction. You will need to design user code for it. Also search the forum for "machine hours" as subject.

In essence you have a pulse generator that feeds into a counter variable. I suggest the counter variable be stored in a retentive DB.

If you have TIA Portal V13 with BASIC license, then you can consider upgrading your version. TIA Portal V13 SP1 will give you the ability to simulate S7-1200 PLCs with firmware 4.0 and later.

TIA Portal V13 SP1 already has updates too. The newest is TIA Portal V13 SP1Update 2. But I do not know if the download will work or not.

If you update.. make VERY sure you update ALL components: Step7, WinCC and PLC-Simulator. Most people here have problems because they skip a update step.. or one step did not install properly. Make also sure to have Windows make a backup of your system (restore point) before you start the update process.

My negative opinion about TIA13 SP1 is but my own human opinion based on nothing else than "statistics". I cannot afford to make mistakes with updating my own system for the moment. With "update 2" we might see less of our users with problems.

There are already people that uses the S7-1200 simulation in TIA13 SP1 with success. The choice is your own if you wish to upgrade.
