I'm working on an application, where I’m using a MTP1000. I’m running node-red as an edge app nad I need to read some information from an excel sheet that is stored in a network computer. Using the File Browser app from the UCP, I’m able to locate and open this file using LibreOffice Calc, so I copied this path into my Node-Red application and tried to read the data, but it didn’t work. So my question is: is there any restriction regarding an edge app to access a file in another computer in my network? Or is there any necessary setting to be done when I’m generating my docker image that could make it possible?

i was able to test it today. I did not test to access a excel sheet, just a txt file on a network share.

But i can access the file over smb.

I used the node node-red-contrib-smb

So there is no limit to access the file over the network. 

In my case access over the netbios name wasn't possible. Please try it by IP.
