MMC for 315-DP/PN firmware version

Automation_Systems Posts: 58 Rating: (0)	Hello everybody, im going to use this space for make two question related to the same project that im going to do, I have a 315-DP/PN with firmware version 2.6.0, and 2 MB MMC for use with it. My question is How can i download in my catalogue of Hardware Settings of Step7 the new version, i try to download with "Update Hardware" that connect with siemens page, but i didnt found the version for 31X-DP/PN V2.6, there is only the V2.5, and the other question is, i read that the recommended MMC for a CPU with DP port is minimium 4MB MMC in the Technical Data manual, but it didnt specified with PN port only said that the 8MB MMC is for cpu 319, do you think that the 2MB MMC can work correctly??, i have a system connected to PC Runtime, and the program is easy, only 1000 i/o with 6 profibus slaves. I hope you can help me

INS Gold Member Joined: 4/6/2006 Last visit: 2/5/2024 Posts: 604 Rating: (56)	Hello, When you want to use the full functionality of the 315-2 PN/DP FW: 2.6 you need at least Step 7 v5.4 SP2. If you have an older version you won't be able to use/download the HSP's for this FW version. Normally a 2 Mb MMC will be sufficient for this CPU but it depends on the program you create and the items you want to store on the MMC. Automation_Systems Posts: 58 Rating: (0)	Hi thanks for your answer, Only one question Late You say that we can update the firmware from the PLC??, if im going to programming a V.2.6 and in my hardware it doesnt exist this version, i can upload from the plc??its automatically when i tryto go online or when i use the "search accesible nodes""?? And what are you trying to saywhen you saythat i dont need the MMC?? you say for made the firmware or for programming storage, i dont have this sentence clearly .

GrzegorzG Posts: 63 Rating: (19)	1. All new S7-300 CPU's reqiure MMC card for operation. 2. If you want to upgrade CPU firmware you don't need MMC card for this, it can be done online from HW Config. But MMC (any Siemens MMC) has to be inserted in CPU (1). 3. If firmware 2.6 isn't listed in your catalog you can make cofiguration with any previous firmaware version, but functionality will be limited to firmware version in your project. If you want to use full functionality of FW 2.6 you have to upgrade your Step7.
