Need advice about CPU 315-2DP

I am new with SIMATIC.I have working system with two CPU 315-2DP.I need to expand system (add 2 I/O moduls).I uderstand that I need to add moduls to the master CPU and slave CPU in HW Configuration.What else I need to do? How I cansend configuration to CPUif sytem is working? Do I need to stop CPUor I can work on line.? Thanks.

Denilson Pegaia Platinum Member Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 11/1/2024 Posts: 4351 Rating: (1451)	Hi, if you refer to fisical IO modules, you need to declare it in the hardware configuration (just on the CPU that will have the modules). if you refer to IO slots of a DP Master/Salve Configuration, you need work in the hardware configuration of the both CPUs. You will need download the hardware configurations of all invollved CPU. This is only possible with the CPU in STOP mode.

Guk Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Thanks for guick reply Pegaia. I think about DP Master/Slave configuration.Can i STOP Slave CPU and send HW Configuration to theSlave CPUwith working Master CPU.The sytem manage doors and gates and i think will be a problem if both CPU will be in STOP mode. Regards

Please have a look whether the alarm OBs are programmed in the Master-CPU. If not, the DP-Master CPU will go to stop too. If these OBs are in the MASTER-CPU and the SLAVE-CPU change to STOP, the MASTER-CPU is still running. A good and easy way to get familiar with the functionalities of OBs (and SFCs, etc.) you find in the STEP7-Manager: Menue "HELP" -> "Content" -> Index Write "Block Help" in the searching field and you will get all the Blocks and information.
