PCS7 (CPU 410E Profinet interface to Drives and Simocodes)

nill.96 Joined: 11/10/2022 Last visit: 7/26/2024 Posts: 12 Rating: (1)	Hello Everyone, Have a project on PCS7. Opted for 410E Redundant CPU and ET200 SP HA as the IO Interface. Entire connection between CPU and IO Shall be on R1 System Redundancy. We have Drives (10 nos) and Simocodes (8 nos) which shall be part of the above configuration. Initially planned for Y-Link and connect all the Drives and Simocodes on Y-Link. We need to go for 2 nos of Y-Links due to data handling of 244 bytes per Y-Link. Was also thinking of getting everything into Profinet. Haven't done this earlier with Drives and Simocodes together. When I went through few manuals, read about Y Switch. Not sure if Y Switch can solve the above interface of getting Drives and Simocodes on Profinet. Need some feedback on this and as to how many such switches to be considered, any data limitations onY Link etc. Also any other options are most welcome. To keep in mind that we don’t want the price of the project to shoot up and looking for a economical solutions please. Drives shall be G120 and Simocdes shall be profinet compatible. Regards Nil

But Sinamics G120 (PN-versions of Control Units) actually (7/2024) do not support system redundancy S2 and can't be used with a redundant PLC. To be more precisely, you could etablish the communication to only one CPU of the redundant pair with G120 PN-Control Units, means the communication will get lost in case this CPU fails. Usually this is not, what most users want to archieve. For redundant connection of G120 to an H-System, you need to use Profibus version of Control Unit in combination with Y-Link. You need to consider, that it is not only a question of physical connection when it comes to connecting a PN-IO-device to a H-System, but also a question of at least S2 capability (non redundant Profinet-network with H-System or after Y-switch or R1-capability (direct connection to redundant Profinet-network).
