did anyone implement a robust update mechanism on the IOT2050 yet, preferably with RAUC?

We're currently evaluating the device for our IoT product line.

Things we want to achieve:

- OtA Updates (We use Hawkbit currently in the Backend)

- A/B update mechanism

- Automatic rollback capability on update failure

If anyone did implement something similar, feedback would be greatly appreciated. E.g. did you have any roadblocks integrating the update mechanism into the OS/bootloader?

Not RAUC, but an SWUpdate integration (so far without secure boot) was once done internally. See also https://github.com/siemens/meta-iot2050/issues/50 for a related request.

There is currently ongoing effort to streamline such integrations from various developments and make them more easily portable, also to the IOT2050. That happens via the CIP project, specifically https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-core/isar-cip-core. However, I cannot promise a timeline nor an official adoption by meta-iot2050.

We furthermore need to validate if OP-TEE works fine as secure storage provider. And then we should be able to reuse the generic bits that should be all in CIP by then for building the rest of a reference image.

All that will only reasonably be testable when there is also a cut-through integration available - which would obviously be a good starting point for own images as well.
