No active firewall or antiV in the VM.

Network connection is private, and still can't find devices automatically, but connect over defined IP address works.

Hi,

is there any Firewall or antivirus active in the VM?

My VM have no Antivrus or FW (Windows FW complete disabled).
The network connections all defined as private inside the VM (if Network type is Public then Windows blocks many access, independet of Firewall turned on or off)

Same here and I already tried several virtual Network Adapters.

I tested "e1000", "e1000e" and "vmxnet3" without success...

- Which VM Ware settings do you have in your Network card settings?

- Which VM Ware version and Which Product do you use?

- Do you have installed the latest VM Ware tools?

- Which are your IP Settings in the VM?

-to which Device do you want to communicate to?

Host System Windows 7 Professional SP1 on Fujitsu Laptop, guest VM also Windows 7 Professional SP1

- your exact TIA Portal Version?

=> TIA V13 SP1 Update 9

- Which VM Ware settings do you have in your Network card settings?

=> for VMware Workstation: Bridged to "Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection", for VM: Bridged & Replicate physical Network Connection state checked

- Which VM Ware version and Which Product do you use?

=> VMware Workstation 12 Pro 12.5.2 build-4638234

- Do you have installed the latest VM Ware tools?

=> Version 10.0.10 build-4301679

- Which are your IP Settings in the VM?

=> Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT - Network Connection with fixed IP, I have Internet access with this VM via my Network and I can PING my connected S7-300 plc and HMI.

-to which Device do you want to communicate to?

=> If I search the Network for devices I can not see any. If I want to go online with an existing porject it is no Problem. Sometimes I can connect to a PLC but not to an HMI... I can not set ProiNet names and IP addresses on new devices. Proneta can do it in the same VM.

The Problem gets worse if I use a Laptop with USB-Ethernet Adapter or WiFi Connection with the same VM.

Yes Connection with Wireless Lan ist always tricky because the WLAN Access points often do not forward the MAC Adress Broadcast Telegrams of the "accessable devices or something else" often you can only use a direct IP Connetion if the Access Point has no such Option to set.

you say teh Ping to the Device you want to load or go online is OK and you can do also a Online Sight. At the Panel just look if the Transfer settings is Ethernet not PN/IE and in the Transfer Option in TIA Portal also use Ethernet (or PN/IE on both side) look to this FAQ:
