Hello lab rat; I'm afraid we on the forumdo not generally take any question for granted, you know what they say about "ass-u-me"-ing... ;-) The remote base adapter you have is a remote I/O controller that connects to a chassis that contains a CPU, and transmits data to-and-from the modu;les it is connected to. So you are still missing a CPU (part number 545-1101, 545-1103...555-1104). You did not mention what software you were planning to use, in case we can help you sort out the hardware issues? What you are missing now is basically information. The following link will show you a collection of 505 manauls, for hardware, programming, modules, and networking: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/10805066/130000 I suggest you start with the System manual, it will give you a good idea of what is needed for setting up a complete 505 PLC . As far as the Sicomp microcomputer, this unit was made obsolete years ago. Even Google can find no match.Whatever info we have on newer units says these are rack-based microcomputers, with separate cards for video, memoryand interface (mouse-keyboard). So if you only have the processor unit, you still will be short of a few module... For information purposes only, look at the following link to a more recent version: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22450530 Note: look at the attachment in the following thread, it shows a picture of a Sicomp microcomputer with all types of modules (including video and input/output) in actual use: /tf/WW/en/Posts/35914 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
