We have one machine which equip with S5 CPU944B, and CP524, the HMI was third part, can I use SIEMENS TP270 or OP270 to replace the existing HMI, and connect the CPU944B directly with the TP270 or OP270. Of course, the new HMI software will been written by protool. Did I need change the PLC program, or add some FB or DB tomake the communication between the S5 CPU444B and the OP270 or TP270.
Did some one can this kind of job before. Can some one give me some suggestion.

Thanks for your help. I have some question, in the link which you send to me, it describe the S5-AS511 can connect with MP270B or MB377 by the port 1F1A or 1F2. The port describe by RS-232 and TTY. As I know, the new MP277 which replace the TP270 did not have the RS-232 and TTY function.
And I have used protool CS edit some software, and I can use protool runtime to directly connect with S5 SI1 or SI2 by theSIEMENS S5 program cable 6ES5734-2BF00. But I never try to use the TP270 to connect with the S5.

If you have TP270 you can connect AS511. Read here:http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1405528 See chapter 2. About MP277, i think you will need WinCC Flex not Protool and. You are right that this panel didn't have RS232. But with converter converter 6AV6 671-8XE00-0AX0 (RS 422-RS 232). More about MP277 look here.

I have another question is concerning about the S5, do I need some S5 standard FB to make good communication between the CPU944B and TP270 or not? Because I have seen some Forum, some people discuss about we need to put FB51, and create DB51, and in this way, the communication can be ok. Otherwise, there will be some problem. Because, the oringinal HMI is not SIEMENS, it is a third part. Inside the program, there is some standard FB to make the communication. If I have to TP270, the S5 program also need change or not?
