Backup project fro TP170B

Hang_Tuah_5 Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I am planning to transfer / backup project froma customer TP170B to my PC, change the interface language from Dutch to English and then re download it back. The original program is using ProTool. These are the 'gadgets' that I have at this moment: 1 x ProSave 1 x WinCC Flexible2005 Simatic Manager v5.4 1 x MPI USB Can anybody advise me how to do it? I think I should backup the authorization first, then only after that I could do backup. Is this correct? Many thanks.

You can only transfer it into another TP170B. You can upload project, if the programmer has enabled the function upload possible, when he transferred the project. In that case another file is also downloaded in panel and you can upload it with Protool. Unfortunately this will need a lot of memory , So most of the time this is not done, because the memory of panel is most used for project. Perhaps your TP170B is using a Card? So you can only change the project, when you have the original project. (not compiled one, that is downloaded into panel) When you have original project, you can migrate it into WinCC flexible. So, if I want to change the program in the TP, I need to have the original program, edit, then re-download back into the TP. 2) Is it the USB MPI cable will have any problem? Since these are current TP settings: MPI/DP > enable > Remote Control > Add.: 1 > Baud: 187.5kB. I had tried before to connect directly the MPI USB cable to the PLC 1F / 1B port, but the MPI USB cable do not have any power. Please advise. 3) Is it I need to backup the authorization first before re-download the edited original program?

Edit the project and download the new project to panel. You will have to do an OS-update first: see following link: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19701610 2) You are right, direct connection to panel with PC-adapter isn't possible, see following link: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/23802404 You should use a CPU or Repeater to give the PC-adapter power. 3) When you download a project to panel, everything will be overwritten. If there are some authorisations on the panel, like passwords you will have to save it. (prosave). Or with WinCC flexible you download them again.
