I did not know about export restriction issues till i need to download a simple program named PROSAVE, i tought that if a program is on SIEMENS's website with a link for download there would be no restriction,  even after getting registered i could not download it, i got an e-mail saying that i need to correct some entry fields such as company name extensions, street name etc. I corrected these entry fields but did not get a reply. I have been using a variety of Siemens products for 20 years, ( PLCs from almost all S5-S7 series, new S7-1200, scada from Siemens WinCC, OPs, FQs from Masterdrives to SINAMICS S120/G120/V120 series, and PCS7.  I really felt frustrated, diappointed and left stranded when i could not download PROSAVE because of export restriction. I felt such feelings many many and many times especially because of hardware and software version incompetibility  I did not experience this type of situation with other brands, personally this experience forced me to review my thoughts about Siemens, in today's world nobody has limited options, the world is full of different brands of hardware and software products with the same functionality. these are the views exchanged between colleagues for years, and i saw extreme cases of replacing all the siemens equipments with other brands (enough is enough). of course we share our views with colleagues complaining about these issues, and of course we tell young colleagues about these as a technical person in automation sector for nearly 30 years.

From my personal point of view it would be great if we would be able to share such tools or knowledge much easier. But I think our world is more complicate than we would like to have it.
There are restrictions about the transfer and we have to manage this situation. On other pages the first registration maybe isn't such easy as here. Then the necessary checks could be done with your first registration. We decided to check only if necessary.

I'm going to get in contact with the team that is responsible for this checks to get some more information about the situation in your case.


Another way to get software you need is to get in contact with SIEMENS within your country. Your SIEMENS Partner should always be able to be for assistance.

By the way: The team doesn't receive a message that the data were updated. It is important to update the request after the correction. Anyway your post here within the Forum was helpful to clarify the issue.
