LR250 and Hart Communicator

MatthewR Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	I have a new Sitrans Miltronics LR250. I am communicating to the device with an older HART communicator (375 Field Communicator) that classifies the LR250 as a generic device. I can change the upper and lower current limits that effect the output signal but cannot change the scaling of the input measurement for the device. Does anyone have any advice that would allow me to change the input scaling? Thanks!

Of course you can always use the infrared handprogrammer for this job, You can also use Simatic PDM, which is in my opinion much more useful than a communicator, if you work in area's in which you're allowed to use a laptop. For PDM, the LR250 DD is 100% up-to-date. Best Regards, SonicRanger.

The only thing I can find are the LR250 Hart Device descriptions: (https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=26548727&caller=nl) and the LR260 Field Communicator 375 files: (https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=31587115&caller=nl) Unfortunately, I would have to borrow an infrared programmer from someone since I don't have one, and I don't have any PDM software to install (not to mention there is no programming port on the level transmitter. It would seem I'm bottlenecked into using the Field Communicator. Where can I find the Field Communicator 375 files for the LR250? Google and site search turn up nothing. Thanks again!

SonicRanger Posts: 151 Rating: (8)	Hi MatthewR, You could try it with the LR260 DD, but great chance that first a device check is done. The LR250 and 260 are from the same family, but I am not sure if the DD can be mixed (I would not bet on it). Again, try to contact the factory or your local Siemens office for this. I really recommend Simatic PDM. For new Siemens instruments, DD are always first written for PDM. You can hook up PDM in different ways to the instrument. The most suitable for you can be trough the HART-modem, which is practically the same way as you do with the 375.
