Hello syd; You have been asking questions related to this issue for a few days now. You have been offered solutions using repeaters (for a Profibus network) and you have asked about connecting a MP370 to a S7-200 CPU at large distances. Is this part of the same question? Both Profibus and Ethernet can be extended to 2 km using either repeaters (for Profibus-DP) and switches (for Industrial Ethernet) when using copper cables. Industrial Ethernet also allows you to use Scalance components for IWLAN configurations which can be linked to the Internet. You might possibly be interested in a GPRS solution. Both Profibus and Ethernet offer fiber optic extensions (as suggested by opur friend IBN-Service)both on plastic and glassfiber, multimode or monomode, that can give you up to 80 km connections if required. I suggest you start by looking at some interesting documents that will explain Siemens network topologies, and offer different solutions for your projects: SIMATIC NET Twisted-Pair and Fiber-Optic Networks Profibus OLMs Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
