Rated X: The color of the cable is black, it has just 4 metal pins. The module is number four on profibus. We have also tryed two other modules, one of them was in a unbroken seal so it was never used. UMENCHO: The PG/PC settings shouldnt matter cause it doesnt have to be connected. The busfailure alerts when i connect the cable only. Best Regards DanijelNilsson |

Hello DanijelNilsson what you do in your case ("piggyback" attachment of"simple" cable toan existing Profibus Segment) leads to acreation of a Spurline. This Spurline will cause reflections on the network andlead to Signal degradation. Depending on the physical location of the Spurline on thebus, choosen baudrate, severity of reflections etc., the effects canrange from none (e.g. bus keeps operating, albeit with poorer signal quality) to complete failure and anything in between (some nodes work, other's don't). Bottom line: You should not (must not) do this (certainly not when you operate the bus at higher baudrates as it is the case here). Solution: Use a 6ES7901-4BD00-0XA0 connection cable which is designed for this purpose and have a look at THIS link for more on this matter. I hope this helps |
