Hi All. I am using CPU12124c and RS 232 communication module. I want to print a label which should include bar code also. The barcode printer I am going to use will be ZEBRA GT800.

1. Which Programming block of PLC I need to use to send data to printer for printing?

2. Which data type do i need to send to printer ?

3. How to make communication between PLC and Barcode printer using RS 232 interface?

Please do help me . If you have any sample program for the above requirements, please let me know.

Hi,

I would choose CM1241 / RS232 Module.

You can use Send_PTP for sending Data to Zebra

and RCV_PTP for receiving Data from Zebra.

For cofiguring you can use Port_cfg

Hello,

in this case, Zebra acts as Server so your PLC is need work as Client. You can use your CPU Profinet port with defined user communication via TCP connection. You can select T instructions (TCON/TSEND/TRCV/TDISCON) or C instructions (TSEND_C/TRCV_C). In most cases Zebra will not respond back to you with message, so you only send defined frame to Zebra to print. Set IP and Port in Zebra, these parameters you need to know for connection cfg in PLC. Other options (if you need) can find in Zebra documentation. This include frames definition with different Barcodes, Font sizes and more.
