For me it is new too and at the moment a little bit confusing. As specially when I'm switching between the german spoken conferences and the english one. Our users came from all over the world. Anatoli has a point because its easy to sort ( even if you 'consider' the date as a string) I think date/time formats must be the most frustrating thing for programmers .I always get complaints about this ,ie winter time summer time , short long notation.searching in a database on date is a monster. (Actually not just time, other units such as mile, feet, F, lb, oz there is no end toit).Also had tough time explaining this date format to others when I had to use my passport or other documents with date.

This default format (M/D/YYYY, AM/PM) is realy annoying for me and I wonder how it is possible that creator(s) of the forums didn't leave a way to change it to some predefined formats. I live in Europe and use D.M.YYYY. format. In situtations when I want to sort some data, I use YYYY.MM.DD, but this American format is very hard for me to read. I suppose that many users ignore it (as I do), but it would be great if someone push this solution. Thank you in advance.
