Hello Grim Reaper I'm afraid to say that you can NOT operate a HMI Panel behind a Y-link (unless you only want to use Direct keys on it which I doubt). What you can do is explained in the link below and I hope this helps: How do you connect an operator panelto an H system (S7-400H)? |

HiNavnagand Fritz, I expected the answer. I also need to inform you guys that a fault viz : "Module Driver error" had been occuring since I inserted the TP in the hardware configuration. I assume that this would not suite PCS 7. As for the query from Navnag I would be connecting the Y-link coupler as the 37th node in the PROFIBUS network and would be connecting only the TP177A/B with that. That is all I'd be connecting to the TP. I also assume that the TP should be a DP slave, but I assume based on the situation that it acts as a DP master, although I could do the coupling. Hoping for a solution on the same. Thanks and Regards, Grim Reaper.

Hello What Fritz has pointed out, is unfortunately correct. There is only one way of connecting an OP/TP on Redundent Profibus with a H system and that is by using the solution provided by him ( by using 2 Nos. repeaters and 1 No. Active Bus Terminator, and of course 2 DOs for a Power supply switching logic for the two repeaters - Option-4 of the FAQ : http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/13595393 There is no way of connecting an OP/TP to a Y Link except on Modbus as I have mentioned. For this you need to have a ET200S + 1SI Modbus Slave on Y Link and connect the TP on Modbus. Both the methods are not very elegent but they work due to lack of a better option. Iwish Siemens develops a HMI with two nterfaces for conneting to H systems as these are frequently needed. ( Maybe a Christmas gift ) Regarding the Y Link being the 36th node, If you are putting the Y-Link only for the purpose of connecting the TP, then obviously it is not required. Also there should be maximum 31 nodes in one profibus segment, i believe your Profibus is already segmented by using repeaters. ( This being the 36th and not 32nd node ). Hope this helps Navnag |
