Hello Graeme, Here are some answers:
The USB PC-adapter needs 24 volt, via MPI/Profibus port. A CPU provides this 24 volt. But not all Profibus slaves have a Profibus port that provides 24 volt.

You are right Wizard, besides the CPU you can only use the PG interface on a RS485 Repeater to supply the MPI Adaptor.. as far as I know. Best regards J_Bell |

Or you can buy a cable from Siemens (you can made it yourself) with additional power supply |
