i saw that when using a S7-15xx you can use the "BITSUM" for it.

but, i'am using a S7-1214 can someone tell me what the possibilty's are when using a S7-1214?

You need to be very specific on how many bits, and what bit value you wish to assign to them.

For example, without knowing anything, IB0 captures all the bits I0.0 to I0.7 into a single byte which has a "binary" value.  Is that what you are after?  Be specific.

 If i am not mistaken there can be only 28 combinations in byte because OP uses a unique pair of bits for each combination.

This piece of code forms 28 enter and leaving bits for 28 employees, based on the combinations of inputs from your code. You could test it for errors.

 BITSUM only counts how many bits are 1 in the DWORD tag you put to the IN of bitsum. So if a dword has 8 bits as 1, the output of BITSUM is 8. Is that what you want? Bitsum is a legacy function from the 300/400 series.

If you want something similar, download LGF library, it has LGF_BitCount that does the same. 1200 product family (from firmware V4.2) <- minimum fw version you need, to use the library.

the parking lot will be used by aprox 50 different company's.

all of the company's have there own amount of parking places.

i want to use 6 digital inputs of the S7-1214 plc

the questions are;

- how can i combine the 50 users while using 6 digital inputs? something like Bool to Word

- how can i create 50 CTUD counters without using the CTUD block itselfs? otherwise there is a lack of memory.

hope that somebody can give me some tips, advices or a small example

This is by no means syntax checked, nor correct for your specific situation.  However, it might give you ideas completely different than above to get it working.  It's sometimes easier to see faults with a proposal and think oh, that should be xyz and then realize your own solution that looks nothing like the proposal.

I did look into your program and i have noticed, that you are using a unique combination of two bits for each employee. That is how your code looks like: 

Employee1 := %I0.0 AND %I0.1;

Employee2 := %I0.0 AND %I0.2;

............................

It is impossible to get 50 combinations of unique pairs of bits out of 6 bits. Maximum you can get is 15. Create a truth table and you will see it by yourself.

 What does %I2.0 do?

I am not sure i understood the purpose of %I2.0, but your code would look like that. You need to create 49 more networks. It is far away from elegant and efficient code, but you wanted it that way, and it is readable for you. Occupation of retain memory of counter values of 50 employees is 50 bytes.

short explanation;

i'am working with an access control system.

when user 1 show his badge in front off the reader and the access is granted, the access control system switches 3 outputs.

these outputs are connected to the inputs of the S7.

e.g. input I0.0 and I0.1 are the combination for user 1 and input I2.0 is the position on where the user shows his badge,( I2.0 for the extrance barrier or I2.1 for the exit barrier)

am i right that, when using your example that  don't need the put the CTUD block in the LAD program?

is it possible that you send me the sample program?

 You do not need to use counter. Instruction ADD = count up, instruction SUB = count down. All values will remain after power cycle.

50 values can easily be stored in a single DB configured to retain all tags.  Just copy (MOV) the values being used for ADD/SUB into that DB after an add or sub operation so the current count is always reflected in that DB.  At PC startup, copy those retained values to the proper tags used for ADD/SUB counting.

It sounds to me as though you are doing a parking garage exercise. That type of exercise has come up on this users' forum before. It is however hard to say what the exact problem statement is that your 'teacher' has given you.

I am thinking that the concept you are attempting to use is not solving the exercise. It is not clear to me how you wish to use multiple counters. Consider making a new topic and starting from the beginning on what the problem statement is and which concept you wish to use. The restraints you have (like using LAD) should also be mentioned.

I am thinking that the use of an array may be better suited. Further I am guessing that the use of the CTU is not needed.. or at least only two at the most.

With design you need to have the concept correct. Making a program is only documenting what you design looks like. That program could then be for any device / code language of your customer's choosing.

i will try to create a new program from the start on and try to explain what i'll want/need and so on.

it becomes a bit difficult because the counter values are displayed in a parking garage system together with a sql database and website.

so the website is pulling the counter values from out of the S7
