Disable Thermistor in Masterdrive

StevenH Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	We are getting an intermittent warning that is being generated by a Fail Word from the drive.Whilst monitoring this through Drive Monitor on Extended Diagnostics there is no warning being displayed so we don't know what type of warning/fault we are getting. We are suspecting that it is being caused by the wiring from the thermistor and to prove this we want to disable the thermistor in the masterdrive. What parmeters do we need to change ?

I assume here that you are talking about the "Drive" temperature thermistors and not the Motor Thermistors, as simply reading the manual will tell you how to disable the motor thermistor. If your drive is a chassis version, then the location of the thermistors is known and you can measure/test them. If it is a Compact or Compact-Plus, the thermistors are embedded within the Drive / IGBT Powerpack. You cannot (and really shouldn't be able to) disable the thermistors in the drive. What is this "Fail Word" you are talking about, do you have a screenshot/description of how it is derived or displayed? Regards, Graeme

StevenH Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi Graeme, Part number is 6SE7021 - OTP60. The warning is being generated by the wiring from the motor thermistor. We have been looking at the manual but can’t find the relevant information to disable motor thermistor. We think that it is P380 and P381 but are unsure, hence this request. We are going to disconnect the wiring from the thermistor at the drive which is why we want to disable it. I have attached a screen shot of how the Fail Word is displayed (our drive is Apron Conveyor 1) and we have proved that this is being caused by the wiring. Graeme Platinum Expert Joined: 6/4/2008 Last visit: 8/5/2025 Posts: 1518 Rating: (327)	Hi again, OK, if you have a genuine Motor Temperature Warning, you should see an "A023" code flashing on the drive display. Drivemonitor 'Should' display a warning pending. Have you "felt" the motor - is it hot to the touch? The temperature sensor on your motor is connected via the encoder (Given as your drive is a Compact Plus there are no separate terminals for it) Which encoder do you use? If there is no alarm code flashing on the drive, then you need to have a look at the trigger code for that alarm signal. To disable the temperature sensor, it should be enough to make P380 = P381 = 0. Don't leave this disabled other than for a test. Regards, Graeme
